Hello! We are happy to welcome you to the brand new dental implants blog of Precision Dentistry and Implants. For quite some time now, we’ve debated what the best way of getting the word about dental implants out to Hill Country, TX area patients might be. After speaking with our patients, as well as our family and friends, we decided on this blog, which allows us to bring information directly to our patients. Using this blog, we hope to not only bring more dental implant information to our current and prospective patients, but also information about oral health related topics. To start things off, Dr. Matthew Huff is blogging today to talk about the dental implant treatments we offer here at our practice.
Regardless of how many missing teeth you may have, we can use dental implants to restore those teeth. Some of the implant treatments we can provide include:
The most common restoration we perform here at our Hill Country area offices is for patients who are missing a single tooth. For these patients, we will place a single implant fixture in the empty spot left behind by their missing tooth. As it heals, a process called osseointegration will work to see that piece fused to your jawbone, just like a natural tooth root is. Once this process is complete, you will return to our office and an abutment and dental crown will be attached to the fixture.
We also often receive patients who are suffering from multiple missing teeth. When these teeth are in separate areas of the mouth, the patient will best benefit from having each tooth restored with its own implant fixture, abutment, and restoration. However, when a patient has missing teeth that border each other, then they may be better served by an implant-supported dental bridge. For this procedure, at least two implant fixtures are placed, one for each end piece of the bridge. Once healed, an abutment will be attached followed by the dental bridge.
While rarer than the other types, we do sometimes receive patients who are missing a full arch of teeth. For these patients, the best type of restoration we can provide is an implant supported overdenture. For this treatment, we will place four to six implant fixtures along your arch. Once these fixtures have healed, an abutment will be attached to each fixture and the overdenture connected at each point.
As you can see, it doesn’t matter how many teeth you might be missing, if your oral health is strong enough, then we have a dental implant treatment that can fit your needs. If you would like to find out whether or not you might qualify for treatment with dental implants or which treatment might best fit your needs, then contact our Kerrville or Fredericksburg office and schedule a no-obligation consultation with Dr. Matthew Huff today.
